  • American criticism of the NHS

The NHS has come under attack from US Republicans and campaigners intent on derailing President Barack Obama's healthcare reforms. They argue that deficiencies in the British system should act as warnings against the dangers of a "socialised" healthcare system.
  • New meals initiative for cancer patients

Many cancer patients, their appetites diminished through treatment and chemotherapy, find it difficult to eat. Delivery of hospital food at fixed times does not always suit patients who often feel sick, don’t feel hungry or may be asleep. For children especially, the food window is about 20 minutes, and is easy to miss.
  • Tamiflu – to take or not to take?

Newspaper reports have revealed a dramatic increase in the numbers of children experiencing side effects related to treatment with Tamiflu. The anti virals are increasingly being prescribed for swine flu, even when flu-like symptoms have not proved definitive as diagnosis for the infection.
  • Support this?

I wonder if it is wise to reduce critical services at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield at a time that the Capital and South Herts. faces the swine flu epidemic that is due to increase in the Autumn. Chase Farm faces the prospect of losing it's Major A&E department with one of the fastest response times in the country , very useful as they are located close to one of the busiest stretches of the motorway system. The Stroke trauma centre is to be relocated miles away and at the time of a Baby Boom in London right now they are to reduce the maternity facilities, not very sensible is it? http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/ChaseFarmAandE/ http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/stopnhsenfield/
